VENUS − Designing technical social networks in situative ubiquitous systems
Information and communication technology is everywhere today. How can the development of new services and applications meet users’ technical and non-technical expectations? Where is the overlap between technical developments and social acceptance? VENUS is working on a software development methodology that takes systematic account of the interaction between technology, individual users and society. Questions of usability and confidence in the technology as well as legal and economic concerns are addressed. For example, VENUS has developed smartphone applications that provide help in organising social contacts without invading the private sphere more than the user would like.
